Looking for Artists and Models for Life Drawing Space in SF

What: Life Drawing
Where: SF's SOMA District, (1 block away from Yerba Buena Gardens 4 block from Powell BART)
When: TBD
Cost: TBD

Artists, Models, and Other Creatively-Wired Individuals,

We are putting together a group of people interested in honing their life drawing and/or modeling skills.

ARTISTS:
As there will be no official teacher for the class this is meant for people who are comfortable being self-directed artists. However, if you wish, people of varying skill levels and experience can help and guide each other.

MODELS:
We value diversity so all types of models are encouraged to join regardless of sex, gender, ethnicity, body type. Ideally we would have a good mix of different kinds of models as well as artists

What we offer is a modern and clean studio (with a bathroom) in safe part of SF 4 blocks away from Powell BART

As of today we have these time slots available:
Mondays: 1:00 PM-3:00 PM
Tuesdays: 8:30 AM-12:00 PM, 1:00 PM-3:00 PM
Wednesdays: 1:00 PM-4:00 PM
Fridays: 7:30 PM-9:30 PM
Saturdays: 3:30 PM-9:30 PM
Sundays: 11:00 AM-8:00 PM

Ideally we would like to have a sizable group or groups that meet regularly so that we can make it worthwhile for everyone involved.

If you are interested please let me know:
1. If you are a model, artist, or both
2. You schedule preferences

If you know other people that might be interested please pass this along to them. If you have any further questions please contact me at my email or tribe.

Thank You,

Hi there, does anyone knows or have a link to the technique to (correctly) draw shadows of advanced perspective figures? I am aware that certain sites will show a techn. for a box in 1 point perspective , and it should be the same I guess for other types but I don't seem to get it down correctly, save me. cheers Geoff

Hello members of this Tribe,
I joined a few days ago and wanted to get things going by asking if you would view my profile,my artwork, and if interested, send me a friend invitation. My main purpose in joining Tribe is to meet other artists for artistic communication. I have added two links in this post to images of my Dream Matter artwork.
Thanks....Steve

Novice with a pencil OR A HIDDEN HEALING ART?

While this is certainly not a new-topic post for this Tribe, it is a new point of light for me. For 30+ years I have lived in Chronic Pain and the last couple of years has found me two different times on LIfe Support. What is relevant for me, here and now, is that I found (throughout the hellish existence I was trying to pass off as a life) . I found my Self involved, immersed in drawing. . I have always felt that there lay within some expression of who I am that had not found a voice...a Way of Liberation. You must wonder (as I still do) what was the nature/purpose/higher realizations (?) of such experience that could find an outlet, and a retreat -- a dramatic shifting of Vision. What price did I pay for being so stubborn in holding to a pattern of limitation, dependency, alienation and despair...a great one. (And that would take a Book to entertain and just now that is boring to me.)
What I want to say is that a whole realm opened to me when I was at a point of complete and total abandonment of spirit (whatever that may mean). My mind was confounded-- and I see--now-- that this was necessary to one who is so 'bent' on being rigidly stuck to dogma. Your life is going to unfold as it will and nothing that you can do of your little understanding (if any can be said to exist at all) will avail..unveil TRUTH (yours) until you are like the ripened (and ready sweet fruit from the tree or the vine),.wherein your ANSWER drops easily, even as you approach it, it becomes ready to let go and falls upon your breath.
I'd never taken any classes, nor thought really to dwell upon something I thought I must do. Actually it was out of a great disappointment that it came and brought with it much Aliveness, Peace and Contentment.. I just took it as "therapy" & allowed myself the delicious pleasure whenever possible. Then I began to sculpt clay & realized I wanted this. In fact, into this light I found much that satisfys my soul.
Did this heal me? I believe that in getting my Self out of the way, Healing had a pathway not admitting before. None of us know what is really within us...what precious revealing lies with anyone? This can only be birthed by a process akin to that of the physical birthing. Without patience, little of worth will become known of just what & WHO you really are; and until this Presence speaks, you will remain lost. For each of us, the specifics of that remains an enigma of old litanys and hidden moments of wonder and elevation.
LA / Ventura County Area Figure Model Available

I have three years experience figure modeling for sculpture, painting and drawing.

This past January, I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl, Savannah. It has been an absolute miracle. I'm raising her on my own and am the happiest I've ever been in my entire life. I haven't been able to bring myself to separate from her and take her to daycare so I can go back to regular full-time work. I really don't know how other mothers can do it...

So, I'm looking for legitmate artists who need figure models and are willing to have my daughter present. It could mean that I may have to occassionally break a pose before the 20 minutes are up. I'm very willing to even the time out by taking shorter breaks, staying longer, coming earlier, or what ever it takes.

I thought that perhaps you or some of the LA area artists you know could use a professional figure model on an on-going basis. Even if only for occassional sessions, I'd love to hear from you.

Please respond either here on Tribe or to shamenun@aol.com and I'll be happy to discuss it further and provide references.

Thank you!

I drew this on May 1 2005 - the day before my father died. Some family members and I saw a stairway into the clouds with 2 angels descending from the sky - pretty neat stuff (clouds can make such beautifuls molds in the sky). If you want to hear more I have it also on my blog. Amongst other stuff. I LOVE TO DRAW!!!

GOD BLESS - take care this evening, all!

I’m looking for someone who can draw Cthulhu well. It’s a surprise gift to a good friend of mine. I paid one guy (in advance) to do it and now he’s gone…. I believe in Karma.

So I will pay but only after the drawing is completed and to me. I need it done & to me by August 18th

Sounds pretentious, but what the hell.

Who's drawing do you admire?

Short list for me would be Ingres, Tony Millionaire (Maakies), Prud'hon, Mucha, David, the big M the big Davinci...

French Curve?

Although I have taken many a drawing class,
I have never learned to use a french curve, or the
flexible french curve. I've looked for info on it
and it seems like it's been abandonded in favor
of things like Illustrator. I was wondering if anyone
could explain the basic idea of using it to me.

Thanks

A
